BIBLICAL ELEMENTS FOR DAILY LIVING-13 TEXT:
"And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did." (Acts 8:6)

 I. A HEARING EAR

 A. Hearing from God is not dependent on time and natural ability, but on God speaking to us and us having an ear that is sharp and focused upon God's voice.
 B. This was the case with Simeon in Luke 2:35; "And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ." (Luke 2:25-26)
C. Simeon received a word from God that he would see the Christ. He may have received this word years before, nevertheless, Simeon was still listening and waiting. He was waiting to hear the manifestation of the word to come to pass.
D. Then, on a certain day, Simeon was "moved" by the Spirit and was in the temple, where he worked, when Joseph and Mary brought the baby Jesus. Simeon recognized Jesus by revelation knowledge and spoke the Word of the LORD over Him. Simeon had an ear to hear revelation knowledge. "And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel." (Luke 2:27-32)
E. In Ephesians Paul prayed, "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints," (Ephesians 1:17-18) This speaks of a knowing that transcends human efforts and abilities, and which must be given from above.
F. Thus, an openness and sensitivity to the Spiritual realm is essential. Paul also, encourages us, "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant." (1 Corinthians 12:1) The word "gift" in this verse in italics. Since it is not in the original text should be read without the word "gift."
G. In the Book of Isaiah we read, "The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting." (Isaiah 50:5-6)
H. After we give our heart to the Lord, which is more than a salvation experience, and we receive the Holy Spirit the Lord opens our ears to be able to hear revelation knowledge. The previous verse tells us how He does this. "The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned." (Isaiah 50:4)
I. Our being awakened "morning by morning" (day by day) speaks of our spiritual ear being progressively opened, that we might hear the word of the Lord. And one who hears seek to apply what he hears.
J. Second, is our response. "I was not rebellious, not did I turn away." These two things are essential to our having a hearing ear. The Lord will open our spiritual ear, but we must listen and obey what we hear.
K. Hearing is based upon what we do after we receive the word. Jesus shares these thoughts from Matthew; "When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side." (Matthew 13:19) This happen when we do not understand what the word of the Lord is for us and we move off-track (our choice) into presumption. The wicked one (Satan) then is able (either God's permission or our disobedience) to move us further and further away from the word of God for our life.
L. Verses 20-21 concern those who hear the word and receive it with joy, but since they have no roots, there is no outworking. "But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended." (Matthew 13:20-21) The word offended in the Greek says, "he is inconsistent." Inconsistency keeps us from having a hearing ear. Ever learning, but never learning. We hear, we rejoice, but we make no lasting commitment.
M. In Verse 22, Jesus gives us number three. "He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful." (Matthew 12:22) When we are deceived by worries or by riches, we are demonstrating a lack of faith and trust in what the Lord has said. We need to stand firm.
N. In Verse 23, Jesus tells us that the see sown on good soil (our heart) represents the man who hears. He produces a crop yielding 100, 60, or 30 times what was sown, based not on the sowing but, on the measure of hearing. "But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty." (Matthew 13:23) At the same measure one hears the word they will be fruitful.

 II. PARTING THOUGHTS

 A. A word from the Lord produces revelation knowledge. We hear and do not draw back. As the Lord wakens our ears morning by morning, we become doers of the word. Our lives are changed, and His Body is built.
B. May each one of us be spiritually awaken, morning by morning that we might hear the Word of the Lord in a way that will change our lives, renew our minds, and give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so we might better know and serve out Lord.

GOD REAL BLESSING

For a time our Home Group Meeting (HGM) would meet at the local every Sunday. After awhile the people who said the LORD wanted us to meet on Sunday started to drop off.  I will be honest I was never 100% onboard, but there was another brother who was convinced this was the LORD so I marched on. Well, as we can see now this was not what God was looking for with our Home Group Meeting.  In the summer of 2020 when Black Lives Matters and others reared its ugly head my friend who kind of helped me with the HGM and ministered with me at Craven Prison in Vanceboro, NC just lost it one day and started yelling at me, "you do not know what it is like to be a black man in America" and said some other nasty things.  Well of course not, God made me a white man. You know I may be white man, but I am a Believer first and all of what I am in God must transcend color, race gender, status, etc. I guess that was not the case with my friend. Now I shared this embarrassment with you to talk about his wife. Every time we would see her and make small talk asking how are you doing she would always reply, "blessed."  One time I said are you only blessed? She looked at me funny and I told her "blessed" just means "happy" it comes from the word "happenstance" which is situational dependent, physical in nature, and has nothing to do with the spiritual realm, and God's real blessings. Like her husband she was very ungrateful, down-right angry at times, and an undependable person, but she was "blessed" in her eyes.  God knows my heart, but as much as they hurt us I still hope and prayer there will be a time for coming together again.  But, I wonder why we most often think of God's blessings are physical? You know a good physical blessing does not get us too far in God, but have God allow a good blessing like sickness or troubles stand in our way I promise you my friend it will get us to our knees.  One of the greatest blessings of God is His silence.  Now I like that so much  I am going to say that again, one of the greatest blessings of God is His silence was brought in the past by the LORD into an intense and pleasant prayer pattern.  The Holy Spirit always flooded me with the LORD’s presence and power.  The personal joy was so great that three hours in such an atmosphere seemed like merely 30 delightful minutes. It lasted only several short weeks. Then, the LORD left it. What a disappointment! I attempted to force its reinstatement by forcing myself to be on my knees daily for long periods of time, but the LORD was no longer interested in continuing this past pattern. He wanted to bring me into another prayer pattern. After some days in my attempt to get the old prayer pattern moving the LORD came and stood behind me and asked, “What are you doing on your knees?”  He certainly did not want to be involved in what I was doing. Isaiah writes, And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee saying, “this is the way, walk ye in it when you turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left,” (Isaiah 30:21) No voice behind you is a good sign. Some Believers are distressed over the fact that they never hear God’s voice.Do not be too concerned. In disobedience and out of the will of God the Word says, “you shall hear.” Now that is true and that becomes necessary, but what about a walk of obedience? God’s speaking may be very infrequent or even nonexistent in a walk in His will.Once we are in God’s will there is no need for His speaking unless there is a change in His will. We simply continue to follow in obedience. He goes before us as we follow in obedience. We have heard His direction. On the other hand we may not have been conscience of His leading, but  fear not something got us going on the right track.  We may hear His voice in front of us as we go in obedience or we may not hear His voice as we continue on the proper path.  Do not be overly concerned about His silence, but rather focus your attention on Him going before you. The LORD goes before us.  The LORD is there.  That’s a fact.  If He goes in front of us then He arrives before we arrive.  He goes before us.  This is a needy and valuable anchor. We should recognize feeling or no feeling that the LORD is present and He got there before we did. This is a tremendously valuable truth to the person who finds himself in the difficult situations and circumstances.  Silence is a most precious blessing in our lives.Did you know God's silence is His answers? Can God trust you with His silence or are you still asking for a visible answer? God will give us the "blessing" we ask if we will NOT go any further without it.  Often times God will give us what we ask for (even if it is not the best for our lives) so He can keep us on the string.  He knows if we do not get our way we may stray and get off track so God will make us happy, feel blessed, and give us what we think we need, but of course what we need is more of God. His silence often is the sign that He is bringing us into a marvelous understanding of Himself if we have the spiritual wherewithal. Are you mourning before God because you have not had an audible response?  If so you may find God has trusted you in the most intimate way possible, with His absolute silence not of despair, but of pleasure because He saw that you could stand a bigger revelation. Surely a sign of spiritual growth and development is when we are content with not getting our way.  We see that with our earthly kids.  When our kids are content and do not make a fuss when told no, the next time they ask for something we remember their reaction and probably will reward them.  You know this silence of God can really go deep into our spiritual being. We can so relate to the rulership and dominion of God, so live in Him so that we can live in tranquility, even through a storm. Now that is not denying the storm.  We can have peace in time of war and we can have war in a time of peace.  We can be in a storm when everything is calm or we can be calm when everything is stormy. We can even be alone in a crowd.  It all depends upon where you are in your spiritual life.  It all depends upon which is gripping your heart, the storm or the faithfulness of God. There is a place of silence in God that brings us to nothingness.  A place where we have nothing to say.  There are three types of silence:  a silence of words, a silence of desires, and a silence of thoughts.  The first is perfect.  The second is even more perfect and the third is the most perfect. In the first, the silence of words, there is virtue (strength) that is acquired.  In the second, the silence of desires, quietness is obtained; and in the third, the silence of thoughts . . . this is our goal:  the internal recollection of all of our senses.  To lay hold of the silence of thought is to arrive and abide at the center of our being where Christ dwells. Not by speaking, desiring, nor reasoning do we reach the central place of our inward walk, that place where God speaks to our inward man.  It is there that God communicates Himself to our spirit; and there in the inner most depths of our being.  He teaches us Himself.  He guides us to this place where He alone speaks His most secret and hidden of His heart to us. We must enter into this through all silence if we would hear His divine voice within us.  Forsaking the world will not accomplish this, nor will renouncing our desires.  No, not even if we should renounce all things created.  What then?  Rest is found only in this threefold silence, only before an open door where God may communicate Himself to us.  It is in that place He can transform us into Himself.  This transformation of our soul consists not in speaking to God nor in thinking on God, but in loving Him greatly.  And how is this love acquired?  By means of a perfect resignation to God's faithfulness to us and this threefold silence. This tremendous truth of the faithfulness of God can carry us through the wilderness.  This anchor can hold us steady through life’s storms.  This enlightenment can take us safely through the darkness.  Knowing of His care and concern can lift our heavy load and bring us comfort.  The real blessing of God is His silence.  Can you hear it? BEFDL 12 (FROM HGM ON 18 JAN 22)

BIBLICAL ELEMENTS FOR DAILY LIVING-12

TEXT:    "To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:"  (Acts 1:3)

 I.   THE KINGDOM OF GOD

 A.   Jesus was in the Gospels and still is interested in the Kingdom of God.  He had only 40 days between the resurrection and the ascension and he focused His attention speaking of the things concerning the Kingdom of God.

B.  The subject of the things concerning the Kingdom of God was and still is a priority with Him.  What is the Kingdom of God?  The answer to this question may surprise many.  But the Kingdom of God is within our hearts. And as the Kingdom of God grows within us, there will be an outward manifestation of that.

C.  Ministries and Churches may be built, TV and radio programs broadcasted, books written, tape ministries started, and people saved.  But they are not the Kingdom of God; they are the result of the kingdom of God growing in people's lives.

D.  According to Thayer's Greek Lexicon the word "Kingdom" Strong's #932, means "royal power, kingship, dominion, rule not be confused with an actual kingdom, but rather the right or authority to rule over a kingdom.  So we could accurately say the term "Kingdom of God" in the New Testament, has to do with coming under the rule or authority of God.

E.  As to its future Luke gives us some enlightenment.

"And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end."  (Luke 1:33)

"So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand."  (Luke 21:31)

It's coming will follow a progression of events to the signs of seasonal changes.  So there is a future physical manifestation of the kingdom yet to come.  But what about now, in the time we live how can we recognize that we have come under the rule of God.

F.  First, the Kingdom of God is not something we enter passively, or casualty, it is something we must choose each day of our lives and desire.

"The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth (forcing his way) into it."  (Luke 16:16) Although entering in the Kingdom requires force, we see it is also internal.

"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."  (Luke 17:21)

 G.  We must find it in us, and then seize it.  The Kingdom of God is not something we impose by force on others.  It is something, the power we find within ourselves and press toward the mark of His will.

 H.  The Kingdom of God is the victory of substance over style. essence over appearance, the real over the false.

"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power."  (1 Corinthians 4:20)

The Kingdom of God is no place for mere showmanship, salesman, or smooth-talkers.  The rule of God is reserved for those to whom God has given real power, wisdom, and authority.  In a word, the Kingdom of God is for those who are willing to put up or shut up.

I.  The Kingdom of God is both internal and external, therefore by its nature it is not of this world.

"For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."  (Romans 14:17)

What we eat or don't eat; what we drink or don't drink is of no consequence when coming under the rule of God.

II.  PARTING THOUGHTS

A.  Finally, the most important characteristic of the Kingdom of God is we must be born again to see it.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.       6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."  (John 3:5-6)

B.  The world is full of showman, salesman , and smooth-talkers.  If you hunger and thirst for the power of God, the realities of His spirit in your life or ministry, remember, "that which is born of the flesh is flesh."

C.  We are not on earth to create the Kingdom of God.  We are here to see it and choose it.  No one will see the rule of God over their life unless they have truly been born of God.  On the other hand how can anyone born of God ever come under the rule of mere men?

GOD'S WILL

God has a will for each person on this planet, and for each situation. This is a clear revelation of the Bible, but it is just as clear that God, for the most part, does not impose His will upon anyone. If we doubt that, then we must assume that what we see in the world and the church is, in fact, God’s will – God’s imposed will. Does anyone actually believe that God is getting His will, generally, in this world today? Or even in the church today? God is, however, not defeated. Part of His will, and within His sovereignty, is the provision that man be allowed to reject His will. In the long run this will glorify Him, since all the efforts of man to reject Him will come to nothing. In the end, God will have His way and God always wins. Let’s be clear about something. God is not pleased that men reject His will. God does not cause men to reject His will. God does not ordain sin or unbelief. Teachings that suggest that everything that happens must be of God or God is not sovereign are in error. The fact that God knows ahead of time that someone will reject Him, but nevertheless allows it, does not mean that it is God’s will that the person reject Him. God is so entirely sovereign that He knows exactly when to move or not move, intervene or not intervene, or bring about circumstances which will give people the opportunity to turn to Him. But the choice is up to them. God is so sovereign that He is able to know our choices ahead of time, yet not interfere with them. Any suggestion to the contrary is not only unbiblical, but results in grave error. The age old argument of where God’s will ends and man’s responsibility begins is not one which God started. It is the result of people getting lost in philosophy, rather than in Jesus Christ. The Truth is, once I say man has no real choice – no matter how I prop it up with a religious song and dance routine I am in error. Man does have a choice even a choice to reject the very God who gave him that choice. God has made it so. God has made room for the possibility that man reject Him. All morality, free will, love, and righteous character depend on this. God does not care whether this makes Him look like a failure – right now. He knows that in the end, He will have His will. And even those who reject Him will prove God’s sovereignty by virtue of the fact that they did reject Him and did lose out for all eternity. God has a will for this age. He has a will for His spiritual Body or the "Body of Christ," not the "church" there is a huge difference. He has a will for each person. That is not the question. The question is how to find God’s will. The Bible gives us the answer: We find the will of God when we find God.  None of us are born knowing or wanting the will of God. In fact, our fallen nature automatically seeks our own will. The idea of living for the will of God is totally foreign to fallen man. To us, seeking the will of God is ABNORMAL. Getting our own way is NORMAL. This is all part of what it means to be born "in Adam." At some point in those people God "draws" to Himself through Christ, the light comes on.  Not necessarily a big light. Not necessarily a light like the one which knocked Paul off his horse on the way to Damascus, but a light that begins to show a person that they are out of God’s will, and need to get into God’s will. A person begins to sense that they are wrong with God and need to be right with Him. This is not yet conversion. It is the beginning of the work of the Holy Spirit.  In John 6:44,  Jesus said, "No man can come to Me except the Father who sent Me draw Him." (John 6:44) It ought to be clear that the "drawing" isn’t the same thing as the "coming." God does the drawing to Christ. We do the coming. At some point, we have to relinquish our old life to Christ. Some teach that no one can do this unless God does it in him. In other words, if God draws us, our surrender is inevitable. This is not Biblical. Once we understand that man was made for God, and is a moral creature, we see that, yes, God must open our eyes and show us Jesus. But at some point, we are free enough to choose. God will not have robots in His kingdom.  Even after we give our lives to Christ, God would have us seek His will. The fact that He wants us to seek His will ought to prove to us several things. First, God never imposes His will upon us. Otherwise, we would not need to seek it. Second, unless we seek it, we won’t have God’s will. The exhortation to seek His will, by definition, puts a certain amount of responsibility upon us. Now, don’t misunderstand. To "seek" the will of God does not mean to "figure it out." It doesn’t mean to drag it down from heaven. Predicated upon the God’s exhortation to us to seek His will is the promise that God wants us to find His will more than we want to seek it! So this isn’t a matter of us twisting God's arm. It is a matter of us opening ourselves to what God already wants to do in our lives. Notice the conditional aspect of our asking and seeking God for His will, as related in the Bible. Now many people get off track wanting to know God's will.  Some are misled by folks (pastors and teachers who do not know better), some intentionally for control, that you must ask, seek, and knock again and again to know God's will and they point to Matthew 7:7-8, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8) Well, Jesus was not saying that at all.  If you look at the context and the original Greek you find Jesus was warning the people, "Ask and it shall be given to you" or take heed, if you keep on asking someone will give something to you. "seek and you shall find" or take heed if you keep seeking something you will find something. "Knock and it shall be opened unto you" or take heed if you keep knocking and knocking a door will be opened unto you. Because, now open up your spirit, "For every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened." Jesus was saying take heed for what is my will and not what you want by asking, seeking, and knocking again and again till you find what makes you happy. In James 4:2-3, "You have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." (James 4:2-3)  Same thought here.  Here you are asking, seeking, and knocking for what you want or "amiss" instead of what God wants for you then take heed you will not get it no matter how much you ask, seek, or knock  and of course when we do NOT get our way in God especially if we think something is God's will, well that only adds to our frustration. Now, before proceeding, we need to make sure we do not misunderstand. God is not leaving it up to us to figure out what to ask. He knows His will for our lives. In other words, there is no need to fear that because I don’t know what to ask, or what to seek for, that I will miss out. There is no need to think that unless I am smart enough to know what to ask of God, that I will never receive it. Can you imagine God saying, "Whoops. I didn’t consider the possibility that someone would not know My will. I didn’t make room for the possibility that someone would not have it all figured out." No. God knows all about our struggles. What does that mean, practically? It means that when it is all said and done, God wants us to seek Him. Thus, all I need to do is surrender myself to Him in any situation. So we see knowing the will of God is tied to knowing God and if we miss knowing God then we will miss knowing His will. I can tell God that I don’t know what His will is or what to ask for, but that whatever it is, I want Him to do it, reveal it to me, work in into my life. This is real asking, and seeking, and knocking. So how then do we know the will of God?  Yes, by coming to know God, but is the will of God for our lives some great mystery? Do we have to read through the Bible five or six times through before God reveals His will to us?  Or do we have to give a certain amount of money to the church before God will reveal His will to us?  Or maybe we have to spend so many hours of prayer before the LORD before He reveals the next thing He wants us to do for Him?  Of course not.  Now, it is good to read the Bible, God speaks to us in His word, it is good to give money to the LORD so others may be able to receive, and oh yes it is good to spend time before the LORD in prayer, but the will of God for our lives is played out every day of our life as long as we are walking with the LORD.  Now to understand this we must understand and believe God does not set us up for failure, God does not try to trick us, nor does He try to see if He can get us to stumble and fall out of the way He wants us to go.  So whatsoever we are doing for God at this very second has to be His will.  As long as we are not over in sin and we know it. Remember, sin is to miss the mark, not knowing right and wrong God's word tells us that, of which the mark is not doing those things we know God does not want us to do, as Solomon said, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man."  (Ecclesiastes 12:13).  Where we find our self at the end of 2021, whether we like it or not, as long as we are not over in sin and we know it, then whatsoever we are doing is the will of God for our lives.  Now I like that.  That takes the pressure off of me to do something for God and all I have to do is love God and learn more about Him and His ways and things He wants for my life will open up like flowers. Oh, how I want to travel overseas in ministry like in the past, but because with COVID we (Karen and I) have not travelled overseas in the last two years.  Are we just sitting around?  Now the LORD has opened up the opportunity for me to share 15 minutes every Sunday at 9:00 am on a Christians radio station.  If you cannot say what you feel the LORD wants you to say in 15 minutes then you are probably getting carried away.  Our Home Group Meeting continues with new people.  The point I am making is we are moving in the things God is bringing into our lives.  I did not need to ask God should I speak on the radio.  I did not need to ask God if He wants us to open our home to share the Gospel with people, oh no these are things that God wants to happen, they are God's will for our lives.  I do not need to ask God should I go to South Africa and Zimbabwe in March or April or to Bulgaria and Romania in August or September. All I need to do is plan to go in Hs will and be sensitive to the LORD (get back to knowing God) to His change of plans or situation and circumstance on the ground (such as COVID) that would stop us from travelling.  In 2021, the Brothers in both Bulgaria and Romania asked us not to come because of COVID, they both were at level 4 the highest rate,  in November as we have for the last eight or nine years, that was God's will, He did not have to speak to me we just knew. Our goal is not to find God's will, but find God and we will know His will.  Jeremiah helps us here in Jeremiah 29:13,  "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13) Notice he said to "seek me" (God) not my will.  You know if we get this wrong we may really destroy many things in our lives, even while doing things for the LORD.  Again, the LORD is more concerned about becoming something in Him more than working for Him.  We know of a lady who felt it was the LORD's will for her to go to Africa and be a missionary.  Well, her husband was 100% against it, but she went anyway. First off the LORD is not into splitting up a marriage. The spiritual authority of the home is critical to God's order for the will of God to play out in lives. This should have been the first sign to the lady that her going was NOT God's will, but being zealous and supported by her church leadership she went.  While she was in Africa her husband and family really struggled, both physically and spiritually. But she continued on in her presumption. As a matter of fact I had the opportunity to see her in Africa on one of my trips and well, I will just say the African pastor who was in charge of her security and whose wife just died were very very close, indeed. Bad things were happening here in Africa and back at home.  The last I heard the lady and her husband had divorced, their kids were in disarray (to put it mildly), and the husband was dealing with pornographic issues. The lady meant well, but she did not know God and His ways, she did not know God's laws, she was religious and wanted to be used of God, but by not knowing God she missed His will because God's ways and His will are one in the same. I mentioned it earlier, and it says this in Jeremiah 29:13, that God does not want us to merely seek His will. He wants us to seek Him. The will of God, and the Person of God, are not separate things. For God will not be content to merely give us "things." He wants to give us Himself. God doesn’t want us to merely do His will, or merely to receive His will. He wants us to BECOME His will. God wants us to BECOME His will so that He can give us Himself – that is – expand us such that we can have a greater relationship with Him. This is a large part of what God wants to accomplish through prayer. Through prayer, we don’t just ask God for stuff. We ask God for Himself. And God says, "I will answer. But I must first get you to the place where you can receive both Myself and the stuff." Here we see why it sometimes seems as if it takes God forever to answer some prayers. In many of those cases, God is answering. But the answer requires a change or adjustment in us. Until we are brought to that place, we will never see, understand, or be able to handle the answer. When we pray to God, we seek an answer. But seldom do we realize that God has to make us fit to receive the answer. If we would just understand this possibility, we would make things a lot easier on ourselves. We have to remember that God never does anything which will hurt us. So just as a child often wants things, or to do things, which are beyond his capability, and must be denied by the parent until he grows, so it is with us and God. God will often say, "You must grow to the point where this answer I want to give you will not do you damage." God does not sit in heaven, simply handing out answers to prayer. All answers to prayer are in complete harmony with God’s overall purpose for our lives, of revealing Himself to us, and of teaching us to walk with Him. Again, God wants to give us Himself. But in order to receive Him in these new ways, we have to BECOME the will of God.  My friend this should be our number one goal for our lives in 2022.  Written by David Stahl

A MEDITATION ON CHRISTMAS

When I meditate on this time of the year and what we call the Christmas (word not found in the KJV of the Bible) season I must conclude this is the most divisive time of the year just ahead of Easter. I wonder why these two holidays divide so many people in the world. Now I will tell you from the start Karen and I do not celebrate Christmas how can we the word is not in the KJV Bible, but we do celebrate the birth of our precious LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. As Christianity began to spread many were alarmed by the continuing celebration of pagan customs among their converts. We even see this throughout the New Testament Church as Paul constantly battled against pagan and cultural traditions from taking root in the young Church. At first the Church forbade this kind of celebration. But it was to no avail. Bible historians claim that the Christmas celebration was invented to compete against the pagan celebrations of December. The 25th was not only sacred to the Romans but also to the Persians (Babylonian Chaldeans) whose religion Mithraism was one of Christianity's main rivals at that time. Oddly enough it was during this period the three Wise Men (also Magi) (Matthew 2:1) learned of the Star of Bethlehem by reading the prophecies of Daniel the Great Magi (Daniel 1:1-7). Sadly this religious deception continues today, even though the faces and names has been changed the spirit and intent has not. We Christians seem to be good at making up things to satisfy our flesh for fulfillment. Now as I said Karen and I do celebrate the birth of Christ, there is a huge difference. As we watch the news we cannot believe all of the fighting to keep Christ in Christmas. Where in the Bible did Jesus ask us to remember His birth? Now I can find plenty of Scriptures in the Bible where Jesus has asked us to remember His death, “And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.” (1 Corinthians 11:24-26) Who wants to remember Jesus’ death when we can remember His birth? Yet few Christians really remember His death (Romans 6:3) while they go crazy in remembering His birth. I wonder why? Yes there is a wonderful story about the birth of Jesus in the Bible, but where are we commanded to make His birth an annual holiday like we in American have made: Independence, Veterans, or Valentine Day even Halloween? And when you merge religious with traditions and customs you have an unbeatable national money maker. Is not Jesus’ birth much more? Yes my friend I am afraid we have gotten off track and the merchants of the day (and for 100s of years) have capitalized on our selfish greed (maybe only in America, but I think not) and great presumption. The same way Hollywood has recently discovered the untapped market for Christian movies. I find it really strange how many Christians today would rather go to a movie then to Church to hear about Jesus. I wonder why? It is not about fighting to keep Christ in Christmas or even about a baby in the manger. You know we really like seeing baby Jesus in the manger, but you know my friend Jesus is not a baby any more, “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34) Today Jesus is not a defenseless baby in the manger He is our victorious King of kings, Lord of lords, and someday soon He is coming back to earth not as a baby, but as a judge (to kick butt) and rule (to set righteousness in order) in the earth. Something else we are puzzled about is why Christians want to beat up on the Atheist in Washington State who put a sign beside a manger display in the Capitol building. I thought we were to witness to them and tell them about Jesus? There is not much of a Christian witness when we shake our fist and gnash our teeth at someone over a wooden display. How can this sign destroy the eternal timeless message of our precious savior Jesus Christ? It cannot and will not. Has the love of God been displaced by Christians wanting their traditional religious symbols? I too can speak for God and sadly I must say yes. Jesus did not come so that we could decorate our trees and yard with gold and silver balls or blinking lights. Jesus did not come so Christians could deck the halls with a blow up Santa Claus and reindeer on their roofs and lawn. What do we do with these verses? “Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not.” (Jeremiah 10:2-4) Maybe we should ignore them or maybe the Holy Spirit made a mistake? I think God is very clear in what He is saying, but we continue in the lie with Christmas trees (a German custom) out from our American tradition (now transported to the world) and because we do not want to offend family members. Just look at the Christmas trees in churches today? What do we do with these verses? The answer will be what we do with Jesus. Never forget the Gospel message of Christ is very offensive and at times even divisive to the non-believers, but truth is truth. Either we will stand for truth or compromise for the lie for the sake of peace on earth. The truth is Jesus did not come so we could have songs to sing at our annual Christmas musicals. It is amazing how old Christmas recordings from people long ago come back to life every Christmas. Jesus did not come so we could run ourselves to death, buying presents for people, while going further into debt. It is no wonder support in America for missionaries and humanitarian programs dwindle to almost to nothing this season of the year. I am afraid the true character and nature of man comes out during Christmas. We even plug in a written list to a jolly fat man in a red suit that drives a sleigh of reindeer around the world in one night to make sure we get want we what for Christmas. Why do we think we should get a present on someone else’s birthday? Our selfishness and self-centered nature really comes shining through. Oh Lord please forgive us for the indulgence of our wrong attitudes, greed, and lust. Jesus did not come to give us a Christmas season to feed our passions. The Bible is very clear why Jesus came. Jesus tells us in His own words, “The thief (not the devil) cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) Jesus came so that we “might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” not to get a bunch of Christmas presents to satisfy our flesh. Jesus came so that we might (our choice not His) have the life of God dwelling within our heart and lives. The creative eternal life of God moving in us and out from us to the world. Also in John Jesus tells us, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3) Jesus came so that we might have life eternal (one part of salvation) which is knowing His Father (and ours), so that we too could “know the only true God” as Jesus did. So we too could know the sublime unity of knowing God as Jesus did. I would think that would be worth far more than anything we can buy each other. Did you know, Jesus (even though the Prince of Peace) did not come into the world to bring peace as many of the major denominations and religions of the world tell us. Religious deception always leads us away from Christ into the traditional religious worship of the customs of man (like Christmas and Easter) and into a good works salvation thinking. Oh no Jesus Himself said, “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35For I am come to set a man at variance (Strong’s #1639 to cut into two parts, cleave asunder, sever) against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. 37He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 39He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39) Jesus has come to cut our hearts out of the world with His word, the sword. Jesus has “come to set man at variance against” or sever every relationship where we love someone or something more than Him. Jesus came so that we could take up our cross (not Jesus’) and follow Him. Jesus came so we could lose our life so that we could then find our life in Him. We know and are persuaded if we lose our life for His sake we shall find it. We also know many of our friends will disagree (we hope and pray this is not the case) with this article, but that is okay getting the truth of the Gospel message out is more important than our friends getting offended at us. If they get offended at us over this article we know they probably are not our friends anyway. We have learned this truth the hard way. Please do not allow yourself to be deceived (your choice) by any pastor or person that says, “it is not a Heaven or Hell issue or it does not really matter” oh really? This thinking my friend is just spiritually wrong and a very subtle form of deception that has been carried on for 100s maybe 1,000s of years by the religious denominations and merchants both working hand-n-hand to get customers. Sadly at the heart of why we focus on the Christmas story and baby Jesus in the manger is so we do not have to deal with a risen Savior. How much more religious can we (like the Rich Young Ruler (Mark 10:17)) who could not totally sell out be than to bow down and worship the Christmas story and the sweet little baby Jesus in the manger? This satisfies our religious flesh and helps to ease our guilt and feeling of disobedience from rejecting God’s word to us. Who wants to allow God to deal and judge in their hearts exposing areas where we must allow Him to work? It is much easier singing another song about Christmas as we buy presents for our family or even as we buy a present for some poor people who live down the street who we neglect the rest of the year. It is far less painful to go to every church musical and spend all we have than for God to be able to show us who we really are. Who wants to allow God free rein in our heart and lives to conform us into the image (icon) and character of Jesus Christ? Very few people do and the rest continue in this traditional religious lie year after year. I think I will end with a very sobering word; if you need a traditional religious holiday to know God sadly my friend your heart is very far from Him and you will never come to know Him. Let us turn our hearts away from the religious traditions of Christmas and allow God to bring the truth of His character and nature to us. It is our choice whether we desire presents on Christmas morning or the knowledge of God, we cannot have both. Written by David Stahl

BEFDL 11 (From HGM on 21 Dec 21)

BIBLICAL ELEMENTS FOR DAILY LIVING-11 TEXT:
"The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:" (Deuteronomy 1:6)

 I. BEING DISTURBED BY GOD

 A. As shown in Deuteronomy 1:6, God rules in the havens and His government is in absolute control. We cannot measure God's grace. It is overwhelming and beyond our comprehension and understanding. It is all inclusive, so that none are rejected from it unless they choose to be. We can rest in that security even if God the Father does not have us in place of comfort.
 B. The Lord at times will move us from our place of ease. Just as the Lord lead His children out of Egypt to the mount of blessing, the place where they had it all, and then told them to move on, He will cause us to move out of our comfort zones.
 C. "Moving on" is a continuing theme in Bible. So too in our lives the Lord will move us out of a place that we enjoy and we find comforting. Yet He has an ultimate purpose, though we may not see it with our natural eyes of understanding.
 D. In God's government there are three resounding elements. Through these elements, He desires to show us that our destiny is sure in Him and to reassure us that He is working towards that end. This is the certainty upon which we must plant our feet. God love and desires for our lives.
 E. God will disturb us! He needs to keep us from being settled and attached, and earthly-bound in our thinking and ways. Though in the world we are not of this world. Abram (later Abraham) was told, "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:" (Genesis 12:1)
 F. Not knowing where he was going, but following the LORD's direction he and his family took off and heads out. This today would be a very disturbing thing to do just to pack up and head out on the open road. Yet as Abram followed the LORD in blindness day-by-day he began to see God's beauty and how God was working on his behalf.
 G. But first though, he had to be disturbed. We are often reminded by God that this earth is not our place to build or castle. If not we will sink roots of dreams, ambitions, and plans deep into the earth and it's systems of life.
 H. Why did God allow Satan to disturb Job? Maybe because in his heart, Job was saying, "I am at ease." "His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east." (Job 1:3) As God's children we must take in the full scope of things, what we call the good and the bad. In the end are we able, as Job was, to stand on the ash heap when God disturbs us and say, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord."
 I. Joseph also retained his integrity in the time of trial while God was disturbing him. As with Joab and Absalom (2 Samuel 14) God may set your fields on fire in order to bring you before the King of Kings. J. As God settles us we began to see God's government, point two, is progressive. He will continually call us to those things which are greater, higher, and deeper in Him. We are to be in love with the Man from Galilee to a point of surpassing all understanding no matter what is going on in our lives.
K. The eagle stirs up her nest to push the baby eaglets out just as our Father must push us. "As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:" (Deuteronomy 32:11) Again and again He will take us from the safety of our nest into the buffeting winds. And drop us to see if we have learned to "mount up at thy command." "Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? (Job 39:27)

II. PARTING THOUGHTS

A. With time, however, we will learn the flow of the wind currents and be able to soar to the new heights where He calls us. We cannot stay where we are at and attain the glory of the kingdom.
B. We must be willing to take the initial step of letting God disturb us. Which brings us to our third point, He will never let us fall. Like the mother eagle God will soar down and catch us on His wing keeping us from dashing on the rocks below and He always returns us to the safety of the nest to continue the learning process again and again until, "She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place." (Job 39:28)

STEPS TO HEAVEN

As a Believer one of our chief goals is to make it to the Kingdom of Heaven. Books and songs have been written about it preachers and teachers have taught and preached about it, and it is our hope someday to be with the LORD, yet nowhere in the Bible does it say some one has ever been to Heaven and returned to earth to tell us what it is like. Did you know there are 582 verses in the KJV of the Bible that talk about Heaven, it must be a wonderful place to dwell. Oh, there are plenty of crack pots out there trying to make a fast buck on dimwitted Christians who do not know their Bible and want to believe with all of their heart this person died and went to heaven or hell for that matter and came back, but after time and when the facts truly come out they are exposed as a liar, a rich liar, but a liar none the less. You know if you really think about it for a moment it really does not matter what heaven is like because it is light years ahead of the only alternative home for all of eternally, hell. We have all of these concepts, images, and ideas about Heaven and I guess that is okay for some, but we really do not know for sure. Often when we talk of Heaven we often quote, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." (1 Corinthians 2:9) and think Paul is talking about Heaven, but read the next verse, "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." (1 Corinthians 2:10) Paul is talking about the things that God "by His Spirit" here on earth "hath prepared" for us now so that we can make it to Heaven. I surely hope God has prepared things for me and my family now on earth and we do not have to wait till we get to Heaven. But, again all of that does not matter. I mean, what are we going to do if we do not like what God has prepared for us in Heaven? My Bible Teacher Charles Haun talks about a dream he had about going to Heaven. When he was in the first heaven (you know Paul talks about a man he knew that was caught up into the third heaven 2 Corinthians 12:2) he said he was in a big auditorium standing around talking and drinking coffee. Charles said he was not too impressed. Then suddenly an Angel came walking by and Charles asked him where am I and the Angel replied, Heaven. Then Charles asked the Angel where he was going and the Angel said to the second Heaven. So Charles asked if he could go with him and the Angel said, yes. The Angel stepped up to a wall and then walked through it and Charles followed, suddenly he was in a world of light and music. Charles said he has never, in his entire life, felt so wonderful, every cell in his body was alive and worshiping God. The Angel motioned to a bench and Charles took his place, his clothing was suddenly changed and now he was wearing a robe of white light. The Angel touched him on the shoulder and said, come and go with me to the third Heaven. Charles said no this is Heaven to me I am staying here forever, but the Angel said no come and go with me to the third Heaven. Charles agreed and when he stepped forward from the bench his white, light robe was laying neatly folded on the bench and he followed the Angel to another wall and through they went. The Angel motioned for Charles to take a seat and when he did a screen came down in front of him and he saw himself sitting behind the wheel of his car and a man was yelling and cussing at him. It looked like he just ran into this man's car and he was letting Charles know it. Just then he felt waves of energy scan his body up and down, then he woke up. Charles said he thinks he was being checked out to see if he qualified to enter into the third Heaven. Yes, I am sure Heaven will be an amazing place, but really what matters is not what Heaven is like, oh no, what really matters is do we know how to get there? You can ask 100 people how to get to Heaven and you may get 100 different answers so I guess the only real source for us to use to find out how to get to Heaven is to use the Scriptures. Now before we get going we must understand the difference between the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven because they are not the same thing. As a matter of fact the Kingdom of God is not a place at all. Now the Kingdom of Heaven is a place where we shall dwell with the LORD for all eternity, where ever that is, then in the New Jerusalem on earth (see Revelation 21:1-5). But the Kingdom of God is much different. Paul tells us what the Kingdom of God is, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another." (Romans 14:17-19) This is what Jesus came preaching after John the Baptist was thrown into prison, see Mark 1:14. As I said it does not matter how wonderful Heaven is going to be and will we earn a mansion and a crown, oh no, what really matters is do we know how to get there? Now, if you closely read the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5:1-12) you will find the kind of folks who have overcome things in this world to be able to be God's son and occupy Heaven. John writes, "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son." (Revelation 21:7) So what are the things we must overcome to be able to make Heaven our home? Well, I am glad you asked. If you notice in the sermon on the mount you will find some things that we must overcome and notice the reward is not the Kingdom of God, but the Kingdom of Heaven. Now I am not saying if you overcome these things you will go to Heaven, but what I am saying is these are some things we will have to be and overcome in our lives to make it to Heaven. I hope you see this point. So for this article let us use the nine things Jesus said we are "blessed" as steps and if we do them we shall make Heaven our home. Matthew writes of Jesus' words, "And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." (Matthew 5:1-12) Now I am not sure if they are in sequence order or set at random, but for sure they are true to heart because Jesus promised us in this world we shall have tribulation, see John 16:33. So the first step to make Heaven our home is to be "poor in spirit" or not to see any value in our earthly self, humble, meek, lowly in spirit like Christ (see Matthew 11:29), spiritually bankrupt. Here we chose do we want the things of the world that rusts and the moth eats or the things of God that are eternal riches, notice in the Kingdom of Heaven, not Kingdom of God. All of the other steps are built on this first step. If we cannot be "poor in spirit" God cannot use us we will disqualify our self for service. The second step is if we mourn we shall be comforted. Now that is not mourning for the dead or even feeling bad about our situation in life, but it is a mourning where we put our mouth in the dust (see Lamentations 3:27-32), we keep our mouth shut until God tells us what to say, then we have something important to say. The third step meek in spirit goes with the first step, but it pertains to our earthly witness before men. When we come from a position of meekness people will listen, but if we come all preachy and as a know-it-all people will tune us out. Karen always reminds me I can say anything as long as I say it nicely. The next, the fourth step is critical, hungering and thirsting after righteousness. Our thirsts and hungers will carry our direction, purpose, and completion in God. Do we hunger for the things of the world, the things to work for God in ministry like most Christians, or God Himself? Now notice it does NOT say we will be filled with righteousness, oh no, it says we shall be filled. Filled with what? I believe whatsoever we need to do that which God wants us to do. Step five, being merciful. Not too many Christians are merciful. We like to get our pound of flesh in an argument or we like to cram that last bit of truth down some poor sinner's throat. Not to mention business dealings. Giving mercy especially to the one who cannot return your mercy is one of the greatest signs of spiritual maturity and development in God. Wow, who wants to see God? Well, step six and the condition to be able to see God that is now on earth and sometime in Heaven is to have a pure heart. David tells us in the Psalm, "Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully." (Psalm 24:3-4) Well, how do we get a "pure heart?" Only one way my friend and that is through God's dealings and judgments in our lives. His work in our lives is a purifying fire. Not too many Christians want to be purified because if they are there will be nothing left of themselves. The seventh step has a lot to do with to do with our ability to bring peace and strength into situations and circumstance in life through God. Why is the person blessed if they are a peacemaker? Well, he is at peace with God and himself now He can bring peace to others. Unless we are at peace with God AND our self we will never be able to affect peace in our lives and in the lives of others. What is the value to someone who is in gloom, despair, depression, a gnawing anger for themselves and others, and then someone comes with a life line of cheer, sunshine, and hope? And, the eighth and ninth step go together they are the biggest steps to climb to make it into Heaven because they will be the greatest obstacles we will face in our lives. Now notice if we are persecuted for righteousness sake ours is the Kingdom of Heaven, but NOT if we cause the persecution. We cannot escape from persecution my friend, we cannot escape being reviled, we cannot escape being spoken evil against they did all of this and more to Jesus, they even killed Him. Do we think the servant is greater than the Master? Oh no my friend, all the days of our lives we will have to endure persecution. Paul told Timothy and us, "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." (2Timothy 3:12) Persecution use to be normal experience for the Christian in the Bible, they even looked forward to it, but not so today. I am afraid we (now I include myself here) have gotten soft, maybe that is why we do not see a lot of godliness? Heaven is to be our eternal home, but focus not on Heaven, focus your life on doing the things you need to do to make Heaven your home. Written by David Stahl
